James Nance plays tuba in the Gospel Brass.

A native of Oklahoma, Mr. Nance received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma and his Master of Music in Tuba Performance from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

He retired from band directing at New Deal High School in 2017 after thirty-four years of teaching. Mr. Nance’s New Deal Band had the distinction of winning both the UIL State Marching Championship and the TMEA State Honor Band.
